Are you experiencing any gastrointestinal issues? Do you want to improve your gut health? We have just the recipe for you! This is a very healthy yogurt recipe with beneficial probiotics that will take yogurt to the next level. It is not anything like you get at the grocery store. Give it a try – you won’t be disappointed!
Instructions:
- In mortar – 10 tablets BioGaia Gastrus – crush very fine into a powder and transfer into a large glass bowl (bowl size that can easily hold 1 quart of fluid)
- 1 (one) capsule of Dr. Mercola Biothin Probiotic Lactobacillus Gasseri – Open and empty contents into glass bowl with crushed BioGaia
- 1 (one) capsule of Digestive Advantage Probiotics – open and empty contents into same glass bowl
- 2 tablespoons of Anthony’s Organic Potato Starch – in same glass bowl
- Add 2 tablespoons of Organic Half and Half
- Stir very slowly with a whisk – but do not “beat” aggressively (NO ELECTRIC MIXER). Need to go slow to ensure you do not disrupt or hurt the bacteria. It will look like paste.
- Once you have a smooth “paste” – no lumps…“SLOWLY” ADD and stir while adding the remains of the entire QUART of Half and Half
- Mix it well but slowly to ensure no “clumps” (no blender, no electric mixer)
- Pour the liquid into the 8 jars (or two, 1 quart glass bowls) from your yogurt maker – put them in the yogurt maker well
- Fill well of the yogurt maker to the SAME HEIGHT as the yogurt, evenly distributed in jars
- Put the lids that come with the jars LIGHTLY ON TOP – but DO NOT SEAL as the fermenting will need to allow the gases to release (gently lay on top)
- Put the Clear Plastic lid of the yogurt maker on, covering the jars or bowls
- Set LEFT Temperature button to 106 degrees (the yogurt maker is set at a default that is higher, so you will need to press the minus (-) button to dial it down to 106 degrees)
- Set the RIGHT hours button to 36 (which is 36 hours)
- Hit start again and done – the two buttons will both be steady green lights
- Do nothing else, do not add water in between – nothing
- The Yogurt machine’s LED display will go down each hour that passes – 36, 35, 34, 33…
- When 36 hours have expired, the machine will beep – your yogurt is done!
- Take the yogurt jars out of the machine and wipe any water, condensation off the outer glass and keep the lids on loosely and let set in refrigerator (again, do not seal tight)
- Once set for approximately 8 hours, yogurt is ready to eat and enjoy
- Tip: If you make your yogurt at 7 p.m., it will be finished at 7 a.m. on the next day ready.
- It is important to note your start time and pick a time that is manageable for you to take out of yogurt machine and place in refrigerator.
Second batch and your next 8-10 batches:
- 2 tablespoons of the Yogurt from previous batch (don’t need to use all the capsules again until your 8th or 10th batch)
- 2 tablespoons of potato starch OR inulin
- 2 tablespoons of organic half and half
- Mix that together SLOWLY (no beating, no electric mixer) into paste with no lumps
- Add the remainder of a full QUART of Half and Half – stirring slowly as you add
- Put in glass jars (or glass bowls) in Yogurt Maker at 106 degrees for 36 hours
- Repeat
- NOTE: After every 8 to 10 batches, you need to start from scratch with the top recipe!
