5 Reasons to Love Our Heart Pak
February is American Heart Month, and we all know how crucial it is to take action to stay healthy and protect your cardiovascular health. There are many factors that contribute to heart health, including regular exercise, good sleep, a healthy eating plan, maintaining a healthy body weight, and managing stress.
It is also important to ensure that you have the proper nutrients, as well. Our Heart Pak is specifically designed with a combination of heart-healthy vitamins and amino acids that work synergistically towards providing optimal cardiovascular support.
Our Heart Pak:
- Includes optimal forms of vitamins
- 2 convenient packs per day
- 30-day supply
- Dr. Hotze designed and recommended
Our Heart Pak includes:
1. Vitamin C
Vitamin C helps promote blood vessel and arterial health. Atherosclerosis is the hardening and narrowing of your arteries due to plaque buildup. The body constantly requires vitamin C to repair minor damage to its tissues, and in the case of atherosclerosis, the repair mechanisms fail due to a lack of vitamin C. A vitamin C deficiency leads to the deposition of lipoprotein(a) and fibrin in the blood vessel walls that causes atherosclerosis. (1)
Did you know that most animals do not suffer from heart attacks because they make their own vitamin C? Animals that synthesize vitamin C internally are resistant to atherosclerosis. (2) (3) When it does occur in animals, it is rare and associated with a vitamin C deficiency. Humans can’t make their own vitamin C, so we must get it from our food and supplements.
2. L-Proline
L-proline is an amino acid that is essential for the synthesis of collagen, the most abundant protein in mammals. Collagen is the main structural protein that constitutes all human connective tissues, including skin, tendons, ligaments, joints, bone, and vasculature (veins and arteries). L-proline can be made in the body, however low protein and vegetarian eating plans may not provide optimal support for the production of collagen.
Optimum dietary supplementation with the amino acids L-lysine and L-proline could release not only lipoprotein(a) but also other atherogenic lipoproteins from the vascular wall. The use of L-lysine and L-proline to prevent the deposition of atherogenic lipoproteins in the vascular wall opens novel therapeutic avenues. (4)
L-proline is an amino acid that has been found to be protective against oxidative stress in various diseases, including heart disease. Research demonstrated that treatment with L-proline improved cardiac remodeling, reduced infarct size, and decreased oxidative stress and apoptosis (cell death) after a heart attack. (5)
3. L-Lysine
L-lysine is one of the nine essential amino acids that must be obtained from food. It is a key player in enzyme production, collagen formation, and tissue repair. L-lysine intake may be inadequate in those who eat low amounts of protein.
The essential amino acid L-lysine competitively inhibits the binding of lipoprotein(a) to fibrinogen, fibrin, and fibrin degradation products which are known to be hallmarks of the atherosclerotic lesion. (4)
4. Vitamin K2
Vitamin K2 is crucial as a cardiovascular health nutrient. Optimal vitamin K2 intake is critical to avoid the calcium plaque buildup of atherosclerosis, thus keeping the risk and rate of calcification as low as possible. In less than 20 years, more than 19 human clinical trials with vitamin K2 have been published, confirming bone and cardiovascular health benefits in both healthy and patient populations, in young and old. (6)
5. Ubiquinol
Ubiquinol is the reduced, antioxidant form of CoQ10 (ubiquinone). Without the presence of both ubiquinone and ubiquinol within the body’s cells, cellular energy cannot be generated or sustained. The ability to convert ubiquinone to ubiquinol may diminish with age and with increased oxidative stress in certain individuals, which is why it can be helpful to supplement with ubiquinol.
The beneficial effects of CoQ10 supplementation in the prevention of heart failure and treatment have been consistently observed in many trials suggesting that CoQ10 may be considered as an adjunct to conventional treatment. (7)
